We have exciting opportunities for a Senior Buyer who is experienced in international importing and exporting as well as raw components to join our Bilton family in Innisfail!

The successful candidate will report to the Materials Manager. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for all the goods and services that are purchased by a company. They will source vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure prompt delivery. The senior buyer may also be asked to confer with Accounts Payable to ensure that purchase orders match invoices without discrepancy, and with receiving to ensure those shipments are received in a timely manner.

Job Duties

·         Source suppliers and attain quotations for irregular goods required by sales in the bidding process

·         Experienced with international buying and familiar with importing and exporting

·         Plan for raw components such as steel, flanges, fitting e.t.c

·         Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select the best source consistent with cost, quality and delivery requirements.  Negotiate and manage long term pricing agreements on critical commodities

·         Order material as per purchasing queue

·         Act as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement related problems

·         Monitor supplier performance by ensuring that product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintaining appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure company requirements and that supplier is aware of their performance

·         Order major materials per engineering and project management prior to completion of BOM (bill of materials)

·         Continually assess market conditions which may affect procurement and recommends procurement and supply chain management strategies

·         Assist internal and external customers by interpreting laws, policy, codes, and regulations pertaining to purchasing; answer inquiries both orally and in writing concerning purchasing operations

·         Organize shipments of vessels to and from post-weld heat treat

·         Create and complete purchase orders for x-ray, sub-contractors and rental equipment as required        

·         Create part numbers in SAP for design department

·         Source material for parts and maintenance

·         Order welding and shop consumables

·         Order safety supplies

·         Enter standard costs into item files from zero standard cost items on order report

·         Reconciliation of discrepancies between receiving, purchasing and invoicing

·         Maintain/update outstanding purchase orders in M2M and with vendors

·         Maintain and constantly assess current and potential credible vendors

·         Generate and submit purchase orders in accordance with the company policies and procedures

·         Maintain consumable request forms ensuring they are user friendly and reflect the correct items being used

·         Check and clean up Item master descriptions and memos to maintain consistency

An Ideal Candidate will:

·         Will hold a BA or BS in Material Management, procurement, Business Administration, Operations Planning or a related field; MBA, CPM or APICS certification desirable

·         Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

·         Have 5+ years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventory control, supply management, supplier relationships, basic cost Accounting, and tracking budget expenses

·         Experience in creating and building strong relationships with vendors

·         Experience with M2M or equivalent ERP system an asset

·         Have a working knowledge of the legal aspects of procurement and contract law

·         Knowledge of import freight movement

·         Experience in vendor negotiation with a desire to find high quality product at the best possible cost

·         Experience in working with a large group of people in a manufacturing environment
