At Bilton, we celebrate the remarkable women who drive our success and shape our industry. Our Women in Leadership series continues with Brittany Grant, VP of Finance, whose journey exemplifies resilience, strategic growth, and a passion for mentorship.

Background and Career Evolution

Brittany's passion for accounting was ignited early, influenced by her business-minded parents who owned diverse ventures, from oil and gas to farming. This upbringing instilled in her a deep appreciation for financial strategy and adaptability.

"I’ve always been passionate about accounting. Growing up around business, I saw firsthand how financial decisions could shape success."

Her career commenced as a teller at Servus Credit Union, where her dedication led to a promotion to Fixed Asset Accountant within three years. Balancing full-time work with studies at the Donald School of Business, Brittany demonstrated resilience and a commitment to continuous learning.

"I would go to classes during the day and eat my lunch in class, It was tough, but it taught me the value of hard work."

After five years at Parkland Fuel Corporation, Brittany joined Bilton as an Analyst. Within six months, she advanced to Controller and now serves as VP of Finance, focusing on strategic financial growth as Bilton evolves.

Aligning Financial Strategies with Bilton's Growth

As Bilton expanded to eight facilities, Brittany emphasized the importance of scalable financial frameworks that support operational efficiency and long-term growth.

"As Bilton continues to grow and our clients evolve, it’s important to check in and adapt to meet their needs,"

Her approach combines data-driven decision-making with a deep understanding of operational realities, ensuring that financial strategies align with Bilton's broader goals.

Advice for Aspiring Women Leaders

Brittany advocates for women stepping into leadership roles by taking initiative beyond their job descriptions.

"Stepping up and taking on responsibility is a large part of what being a leader is all about,"

She emphasizes the importance of setting clear expectations for oneself and others to build confidence and credibility.

Navigating Challenges and Achievements

Taking on the Controller role in early 2020, Brittany faced significant challenges amid global uncertainty. Leading a team during this period reinforced her confidence in decision-making and highlighted the importance of communication and teamwork.

"That experience gave me confidence in my ability to make tough decisions and reinforced my belief that with resilience and a strong foundation, we can navigate any challenge,"

Essential Qualities for Leaders in Manufacturing

Brittany believes that being dynamic and receptive to change are key qualities for leaders in manufacturing. She fosters a mindset of continuous improvement, encouraging her team to embrace innovation while celebrating successes.

"It’s about recognizing what has made us successful while also focusing on the growth that will get us to where we want to go"

Balancing Work and Personal Life

Outside of work, Brittany finds balance on her acreage with her husband and horses, enjoying quiet moments that provide mental clarity. Family gatherings and celebrating milestones keep her grounded and remind her of the importance of balance.

"Spending time on our acreage, watching my horses, and listening to the birds brings me an immense amount of peace"
